Synopsis of Old Dogs, New Tricks

Doc, who still visits a slowly recovering Ryan Buckley, runs into his old friend Jerry, who was shot two years ago when he was working as a paramedic with Doc. Jerry takes Doc out for dinner and asks Doc why he seems so down. Doc tells him the whole story about Ryan Buckley, and how Doc now believes that he may have paralyzed a boy just because he was showing off for the cameras.

Carlos decides to try sliding down the fire pole and ends up falling. Spending a humiliating night in the hospital, Carlos is tortured by his roommate who is going through alcohol detox. Carlos, in his own callous way, actually convinces his roommate to stop drinking, but then he can't convince him to stop talking. Unable to sleep with the chatter, Carlos goes for a walk and sees Jerry and Ryan together. After Jerry leaves, Ryan tells Carlos that Jerry works as an investigator for his personal injury lawyer. Carlos doesn't realizes what incredibly information he has because he's more excited about the sex he has soon after with a hot nurse.

With Carlos out of commission, Kim and Alex end up working together and are surprised by how well they get along. Kim immediately notices something going on between Alex and Ty, and Alex laughs that she was partners with Carlos, and Carlos lives with Ty, but Carlos never noticed.

Things are going great for Sully, who is losing weight with Tatiana's cooking and going for power walks. When he stops by home during his shift to bring his wife some milk, he finds out she went out for milk herself and while she was gone his mother burned herself on the stove. He rushes his mother to the hospital where she is admitted. The doctor on call tells Sully that he needs to consult a specialist, and his mother might need surgery. The doctor also recommends that Sully consider putting his mother in a nursing home. Sully goes home to his very apologetic wife, and although he's angry, he can't help but forgive her because he knows she meant well by bringing his mother home in the first place.

Bosco finally busts a drug dealer he's been after for awhile, and then tells him that they might be able to strike a deal if the drug dealer will turn over his supplier. The drug dealer leads Bosco and Yokas to his supplier, but Bosco is in for a surprise when the supplier turns out to be his brother Mikey. Bosco is so angry he actually arrests his brother, even though Yokas warns him he'll likely regret it.
